PROV-en
PROV-en is a collaborative endeavor between two students, Ruby Lam and Nader Burjawi, aimed at redefining the role of Public Records of Victoria (PROV) in the modern era. Our objective is to challenge conventional interpretations of archival records and introduce supplementary programs that enrich the public space.
In our exploration of record-keeping, we uncovered a cultural disparity concerning the representation of Australian history. Questions arose about the essence of Australian identity and whose narratives these records truly encapsulate. We observed a neglect of pre-colonial history and immigrant experiences within the archival landscape. To address this, our additional programs are designed as inclusive spaces fostering storytelling, restoration of marginalized narratives, and community empowerment across Victoria’s diverse demographics.
