The Birrarung recovery Centre
The Birrarung Centre emerges as a vital recovery facility, deeply committed to revitalizing the health of the nearby Birrarung River. Our extensive site analysis and research have revealed concerning declines in local river species, prompting a transformative initiative. This project now evolves into a comprehensive rehabilitation center, specifically designed for breeding native plants and species with the ultimate aim of reintegrating them into the river ecosystem. Moreover, our approach includes an exploration of innovative collaborations with the existing docking shed, implementing a form that seamlessly harmonizes with the natural landscape.
This dynamic strategy not only breathes new life into the site but also pays homage to its historical significance, preserving the original landscape and honoring the rich history that once flourished there. The utilization of a form-finding device enhances this process, implementing a porous flow within a surface to organically discover a form that perfectly suits the area.

In this project, we introduced our unique form-finding system, extracting fundamental rules and forms to serve as the foundation for the overall design. This innovative approach is integral to shaping the project essentials, including urban porosity within the form. The result is a distinctive wayfinding device seamlessly integrated into the structure for enhanced user navigation and experience.
